Identify New Revenue Opportunities with Recommended Merchant Reports

Sovrn Commerce Team // October 17, 2024

Working with Sovrn Commerce gives you access to one of the largest merchant networks in the industry—including more than 50,000 top retail brands across every imaginable category. But with so many options, it’s not always easy to figure out which merchant partners might be a good fit for your affiliate program.

Fortunately, Sovrn doesn’t leave you to navigate the selection process on your own. We provide tools and support to help you find merchants that align with your commerce content strategy—including our new recommended merchants report.

Introducing the recommended merchants report

The recommended merchants report is designed to simplify the merchant selection process by identifying brands you may be missing out on promoting. When you run the report, you’ll receive a list of 100 approved merchant programs that are driving revenue for publishers or content creators like you — but that you haven’t driven clicks to within the last 90 days. The report includes key data points like:

  • Merchant name
  • Program type(s) offered
  • Supported geos
  • Estimated EPC
  • Average commission rate (for CPA merchants)
  • Average conversion rate
  • Average order value
  • And more!

Merchants are displayed in descending order, with the most successful merchants at the top—so you can see which retailers perform well for publishers like you. For example, if you operate a content site, your recommended merchants report would show 100 approved merchants you’re not already working with that are earning revenue for other content publishers. From there, it’s easy to identify new merchants to write content about.

How to use the recommended merchant report

There are plenty of use cases for investigating your opportunities with the recommended merchants report. For example:

  • Merchant diversification: If you’re simply looking to add new merchant partners, the recommended merchants report can help you identify retailers performing well for similar publishers.
  • Performance dip: If a particular merchant isn’t driving the revenue you expect, the recommended merchants report can help you find a suitable replacement.
  • Program expansion: If you want to expand your commerce program in a new direction, the report is a great resource for finding the right merchant partners to meet your goals.

Accessing the recommended merchants report

The recommended merchants report can be generated on demand any time you need it. You can run the report from multiple locations within the Sovrn Commerce Platform. Here’s how:

  • From the navigation bar, click one of the following:
  1. Analytics > Overview
  2. Analytics > Revenue
  3. Approved merchants
  • Click the blue Reports icon in the top right corner to open the “Commerce reporting” pop-up.
  • Enter the property you want to analyze, select the “Recommended merchants report” (near the bottom), and click “Send.”

👉 Pro tip: Each report is sent to just one user account, but Sovrn Commerce has no per-seat licensing fee, so you can create as many user accounts as you need at no additional cost.
