Boulder, Colorado, May 25th 2018 : Sovrn, which helps more than 25,000 independent online publishers succeed to create new revenue streams, scale audience, manage ad operations and improve cash flows, has unveiled a new platform which will directly support publishers as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force this week.
Instead of simply pushing responsibility for GDPR compliance back onto publishers, Sovrn has worked closely with the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), to become one of the first partners to build its own Consent Management Platform (CMP).
Sovrn’s CMP, which is based on the IAB’s own consent framework, has been designed to aid publishers in establishing their reader consent approach. The platform allows Sovrn to collect and store what data customers have consented to be used and for what, and then feed that information back to the publishers and other selected partners in the ad supply chain. This means that everyone in a publisher’s supply chain understands what data they may use and for what.
The CMP is free to all publishers and is easily implemented using one line of code to ensure zero impact on page latency. Furthermore, it’s also easily configurable to the publisher’s preferences and delivered with full online and telephone support to ensure publishers enjoy a successful integration.
Walter Knapp, CEO of Sovrn, comments: “We believe it’s important to partner with our publishers and not just put the full burden of responsibility for GDPR-compliance onto them. We have worked hard to make our own company compliant—covering everything from consent management to, reader data”less” ad management, and readers’ right to be forgotten—and we strongly believe it is our responsibility to support our publisher partners through this industry shift. This once again demonstrably shows our laser focus on advocating for and supporting publishers.”
